((Since the new WoW expansion was announced, I wanted to take the time to tell you how I'm going to work this journal. I'm going to be following pre-Burning Crusade WoW for awhile, and then the expansions up to Wrath of the Lich King will be dealt with appropriately.
Basically, Kul'thran's WoW is going to be different from Blizzard's WoW because I already had a set idea of what the story ought to be. As a writer, I have some creative license over what happens, but I am nowhere by any means, overriding Blizzard's WoW. I cannot do that. I'm a player, not a developer.
The main point of the new WoW expansion, as I see it, was to make Azeroth more exciting to level in. That's all. So, I'm probably not going to implement it into the story (meaning no Night Elf Mages will appear, nor will a severed Barrens, etc. It's going to be all old world). Plus, I want this to have an end instead of it being an ongoing story that never ends.
Also, I will not be following the traditions of the current expansions. For example, you won't have Kul'thran meeting Horde/Alliance Death Knights as my journal follows original WC1-3 and (old) WoW lore. He may meet a Death Knight working for the Argent Dawn, but that's it.
I hope I don't sound arrogant about this, I just don't want to change directions every time Blizzard releases an expansion, and I don't want people to be alarmed when I'm not following current Warcraft lore and instead am making my own.
Therefore, think of this as an Alternate Azeroth universe.))

I know it's kind of old, but since I'm just reading the journal now, I must say I'm very glad to hear you're going to ignore WoTLK, Cataclysm and BC. Long live the old WoW! :)
